Politics... the root of all evil, it seems...and the solution to very little.

My feelings of sadness over the growing number of homeless here in Los Angeles and all over our country increases day by day, and I think about the irrationality of the way political funds are dispersed and how much I wish we could take some of those senseless expenditures and transfer them to the citizens who so badly need help.

I recently saw a news article primarily covering the law suit that Devin Nunes has filed, for millions of dollars which of course hopefully will never land in HIS bank account - the article mentions that he was in Libya, not Vienna, as he claimed in his suit against CNN, on an overseas trip at the time. Yet Nunes claimed expenses of nearly $57,000 for a four-day trip for him and his staff to Europe, not Africa, a claim that shows up on a House expenditure report on foreign travel. $57,000 for a four day trip to a country he visited instead of just showing up for Congress. Of course I personally wish he would not evcen show up. But hey. He was elected. Last time. Hopefully not this time. (But I digress…)

Think about what that $57,000 could do, if added to all the OTHER unnecessary, vaguely justified travel expenses the members of our Congress submit for trips, the importance of which is a bit unclear. I don’t understand why we can’t get a kinder, less greedy and selfish, more compassionate and honest ways of dealing with the billions of dollars in this country and around the world. (My ex-husband used to call me Natasha the Red… I guess I would still qualify for that name in some folks’ opinions.)
