Day 26 of Poetry Month...another limerick, but a bit extended...
There was a young student of verse
whose work went from dreadful to worse…
the harder she crafted
the more she got shafted
by critics whose comments were terse.
Then one day, she hired a hall
and said, “I must give this my all!”
She invited the press,
who came, under duress,
but didn’t enjoy it at all.
She mourned as she tragic’ly wept,
“Oh, why must I be so inept?
My poems are boring…
the whole world is snoring!”
And so she snuck out while they slept.
She rented a villa in Spain
and sangria-ed away all her pain,
Then found, in a stupor
her writings were super.
and went home to try it again.
